Zelda had the same problem for me that the Mario games did - once they switched from 2D to 3D it felt like most of the charm went out of the series. Though it probably doesn't help that I was already in college before OoT and SM64 came out, and my gaming tastes had grown way beyond by that point. It's entirely possible that I'd have been just as cold on a new Super Mario World game or a hypothetical Link to the Past 2.
