ff1 - bare bones rip off of D&D but was still a really good jrpg for the time with a ton of replay value thanks to the class system. 7/10

ff2 - interesting concept but not implemented very well. the one game in the series i outright dislike. leila and leon were cool though at least 1/10

ff3 - it was the first use of the class changing system that 5 and x-2 made better use of. it was a pretty fun game for its time but it has its flaws like its super long final dungeon with no save points. 5/10

ff4 - the first truly great game in the series and an all time classic with some of my favorite moments in the series. rydia is easily a top 5 final fantasy character. 8/10

ff5 - its funny and the class change system was handled so much better here than in ff3. i liked the world and the cast and kriles giant forehead still bothers me to this day. 8/10

ff6 - this is my favorite entry in the franchise. great character, great world building, great boss fights and great plot twists. this is just an amazing experience 10/10

ff7 - the game put the franchise on the map and for good reason. it was pretty unique to be an urban fantasy when most jrpgs set themselves in the past. it had some really good characters and just an amazing story. 9/10

ff8 - it gets too much undeserved hate. its story does fall off the rails and never really recovers but its plot is strong for its first 2 disks at least and i feel that often gets overlooked. it was my first final fantasy so it has a special place in my heart 8/10

ff9 - its another really good entry into the series with some major flaws. its battle system feels slower than the others that use the ATB gauge. and trance is one of the worst implemented limit break systems the franchise has ever had. also freya's story just kind of stops. apparently it was supposed to be resolved in a sidequest that got cut from the final product. 7/10

ff10 - this game was amazing for its time. its so much fun and one of the first jrpgs to use voice acting that didnt completely suck. they actually got some talent with only a few off performances 10/10

ff12 - this game has a plot that sounds amazing on paper. but it wasnt executed very well so everything just felt mediocre. at least balthier was cool and the gameplay itself was a lot of fun. someone once described it as a MMO that you play offline and alone and that is a pretty accurate description. it has a great big world to explore and a lot of stuff to do. 7/10

ff10-2 - this game deserves more love. its a ton of fun and a lot of its flaws are exaggerated 8/10

ff13 - this is a very pretty game. but its also very bland and lifeless. people said it opens up when you get to gran pulse but gran pulse is a perfect metaphor for how i feel about the game. its such a big pretty sight to see full of absolutely nothing. its just fight after fight with nothing to make the world seem alive in any way. 4/10

ff13-2 - this game was so much better than 13. they managed to make me like a battle system i didnt care for just by tweaking it a bit. when i saw the trailer for the game i didnt expect much. i mean the sister of the main character of the 13 being upgraded to main character status did not seem all that compelling. but im so happy i was wrong. serah was a much more likable main character than lightning 7/10
