Also DO NOT just start randomly applying for cards. Hard credit checks stay on your history for two years and too many will negatively effect you. What i would recommend is pick a bank youd like to open an account with, go to their website, and see if youre pre-approved for any offers. This will lessen the chances of your hard check being denied. In my experience Capital One is a good place to get started. My first card card was a secured card from Capital One. I paid a $200 deposit for a $500 limit. I only used it for gas and paid it in full every month.
