That same moment happens at the end of Soul Reaver 2 when Raziel time travels to confront his human self. You can hear it happen when you are exploring the halls. It was creepy as fuck. Later on, humans rise up and behead him. Was he in Defiance? I honestly don't remember. If he was, I think that was also because of time travel.
