Theres to many examples of it working to the contrary to disregard it as a failed method that causes long term damage just becuase you dislike it.

What? Most kids are normal. If they're misbehaving, they'll eventually learn through other discipline means.

If your child is at the point that you have to physically hurt them to stop xyz behavior, it's likely because of s***ty attitudes and behaviors passed down by the parent, or in many cases, meaning they have behavioral issues that need professional attention. Not a beating.
And some children are incredibly hard headed, inherently bratty, and do not respond well to or at all to certain, non physical disciplinary methods.

I cant stress this enough but beatings are not a go to, immediate punishment when kids misbehave. They are used either as a warning or last resort. Of course after the parents have properly explained why it's bad, they shouldn't do this or that, and what may happen.
