Couple questions:
1) How do people leave gifts for you (i.e., how do you know that that gift was meant for you)?
2) Sometimes, the regular mail carrier assigned to a route is reassigned (or someone else is assigned); how do you ensure that it's your regular mail carrier that gets the gift and not someone else?

Some people will stop by while we're delivering with their gifts, others will leave them in their mailbox with a note. I work on a rural contract so it's only ever the three of us who do our 2 routes and it's really noticeable when the customer puts something in the box. One we see really often is those chocolates that are called "Merci", people leave us home baked goods sometimes too and I get a little sketched out by that but my coworkers love it, gift cards are kinda rare so that's always a big score, but even a thank you note feels really good to get.

For the second question, every office is different. In ours the carrier subs are good about making sure the regular carriers get the gifts, they know they weren't the one who earned it and if they get found out that's something that tanks one's rep and can even cost someone getting moved to permanent. If you want to make sure it gets to your regular carrier you could go in and leave the gift with the carrier supervisor tho.
