Game of the Decade?

Minecraft basically created a thriving indie scene with its huge success, and created a cultural impact that's probably going to last for generations and extend well outside the view of just gamers. It pretty much created a whole slew of survival crafting games, as well as being one of the first mainstream examples of a massive creative community, though it definitely wasn't the first.

Dark Souls created an almost whole new genre, and brought difficulty back to the mainstream in AAA games. We're only just seeing people start to experiment with the genre more and branch out, which tells me it could have a ripple effect that spreads throughout the next decade.

Isaac set the standard for "value for your dollar" indie games, and became the template for roguelikes for the decade. This one has a bit shakier of a claim as it can't take sole claim for the indie craze even when you discount Minecraft, but the roguelite genre undeniably traces its more modern roots back to BOI.

League technically was a late 2009 release, but its effects were largely felt in the new decade, for better or worse. The popularity of MOBAs, the rise of games as a platform, and the rise of microtransactions and pay to win gaming can all be attributed to League's popularity. On top of that, League really pulled esports up to its current juggernaut status from the relatively obscure place it was in prior. Nothing it did was particularly new, but you can't deny that League made it mainstream.

Pubg shouldn't need much explanation, Battle Royale has been a popular thing for years, though imo it remains to be seen whether it will last or fade away as a fad.
