While that's true, there's also additional sources of revenue beyond theatrical release, which probably even out for a movie like Charlie's Angels. So no, that's not what I mean.

What I'm really getting at is that the theaters themselves return a significant share of theatrical revenues - typically, the studio takes home about 50% of a movie's domestic box office, 25% of its Chinese box office, and 40% of its box office everywhere else. Thus, a movie's box office will always need to double its production budget to break even, at the bare minimum.

I don't doubt it will be easy for Little Women to break even, but that's because it's relatively cheap and actually has an audience, not because its box office only needs to exceed its production budget to do so.
