The game is set in an alternate future that diverged in 1901, when U.S. President William McKinley is not assassinated by Leon Czolgosz at the Pan-American Exposition Obsidians return to a Fallout New Vegas like world was well like by gamers. People have had some complaints about length or how late game is handled but considering this is the start of a new franchise this sounds like the place to start.
