Yeah, it's admittedly a tricky case. I felt the same way when the MCU's Spider-Man got nominated a few years back It technically doesn't break the rules, and there's no way to really exclude ones like those without excluding many more that should get a chance (in particular, even from the first time I ran this contest, my intent was always to include characters from tv/movies that were based on books, because for the majority the adaptation would be their first time experiencing the characters).
