No it didn't. Last Jedi cohesive story was a twist every five minutes just to subvert it with another twist.

It still had cohesive themes and emotion behind it. Things were still hinted at, built up to, and given resolution, even when it was unsatisfying.

Compare that to the scene people liked in the trailer, Rey facing off against a TIE fighter and jumping over it. It's a really cool moment visually, but it falls apart instantly. Moments before, we saw Kylo with his Knights of Ren on a plateau, and then suddenly he's in a fighter flying straight at Rey. Not threatening even, he literally just flys at and over(rather under) her. Nothing explains why he isn't in his own ship. Nothing explains what he's trying to do. Nothing explains why the knights aren't with him. All of this would've been fine if that scene before didn't exist, but it does. All of this would've been fine if there was something explaining what was happening afterwards, but they just jump into the next action sequence which ends with the first emotional weight felt in the entire movie. But then it jumps to another scene that IMMEDIATELY removes that emotional weight by saying "oh no we were wrong" with no explanation or logic. Then the heroes move along with their quest with no closure to that encounter with Kylo - not unsatisfying closure, they literally never say how they get away from him.
