I tend to agree with this, which is why my expectations for the coming election swivel entirely on who the Democrats field. If they assume this is a slam dunk (which they may, because it's a mistake they've made before, and they never seem to learn from it), and that they can run pretty much anyone and win, they may fuck themselves over hard. At least a few of the candidates currently in the running have very little chance of beating him, no matter how badly people may think he's going to lose. Dems need to be smart and field a candidate that won't alienate half the country. There are certainly options that make a win for them likely.
