They've been in their land longer than anyone, if anything, they would have greater rights for candidate consideration than anyone. Native Americans, much like blacks and hispanics have been systematically marginalized. Indigenous peoples have had it particularly rough because the US government purposefully separated the tribes ensuring there would not be factions allying against the government. The US at the same time was frantically expanding West killing Indians and Mexicans indiscriminately in the name of independence. Native communities are still very detached from what is going on in the United States as a country.
