Could they pass physical items in TLJ or is that another thing this movie pulled out of its ass/got completely wrong? It's literally building on what was established of their strong bond in TLJ. They didn't pass items through there deliberately, but some rain made it through. Then they began doing it themselves in this movie, at first on accident and finally at the end deliberately.
