I only played SSF in Path of Exile because it was for the personal challenge. I have an issue keeping long term relationships / commitments but I enjoy talking with people about things that I do. Before SSF was a thing I still played solo, the only difference was I abused the trade system to be a good player. In the end I was still able to do same content in SSF as I was in Trade League, it just took me 2-3 times longer for example, to kill Uber Elder.

Playing Dota right now, and I prefer to play alone because I don't know how to find a group of people to play with, and even then I don't think I would "pull my weight" when playing with them. This is also why I have issues with MMOs, I prefer to pug, except in STO where I've been historically one of the most prolific players during the times I played for any significant amount of time (e.g. people not on my fleet/clan remember who I am, even if I hadn't played in a long time).

Also even back in my Runescape days, people would recognize my name on other sites. Back when reddit first started being popular people were like Are you the Secret Dragoon from Zybez? All of that time I was never part of any major Runescape clan because I'd rather interract with the community through discussion instead of having a tight group.

Now I really regret all of this. I feel like I've missed out on so much, so many secret clubs I could have gotten into big trouble with and secret knowledge I could have learned, but all of that's in the past. Still waiting for my next opportunity to be that guy again.
