Most of that 'non-existent technology' is actually practical. The stunts (a good chunk of the characters are in front of a green screen) and a lot of the visuals outside of the structures and cars are CGI. That doesn't take away from how great the movie is imo, I personally think it makes it better and refreshing to see CGI done well.
By non existent technology I meant shit they made exclusively for the movie like the huge water pump system from the beginning. We could build something like that if we wanted to but there's no point. A lot of the vehicles and shit were real.


Yeah the vehicles for the most part were real but the people hanging off of them, a lot of the stunts, and a good majority of the environment were CGI. The use of CGI benefited from the movie's environment and look. Fury Road blended practical and CGI effects perfectly.
