I actually had to look up a youtube playthrough, pause it and then try it, and even that didn't work. on the 8th or 9th attempt I finally got it to take. and I've played 1-5 maybe 6 times. the vase is the absolute worst thing in the series by far. Even today when I've replayed that case at least 5 times, it takes several tries to get the game to accept it. It was the worst of the puzzles, yeah.
