If you actually gave a fuck about keeping them safe because they're "kids", you wouldn't be having any sexual contact with them. And it's also dumb af to consider someone to be mature enough for sex/dating the moment they hit 18. If you actually wanted a mature partner, you'd probably go for someone whos at least in their mid/late 20s.
