It's a sandbox game where you build your own space ships and complete missions (testing parts in the atmosphere, putting things into orbit, rescuing astronauts, exploring other planets). It is really difficult without mods imo but it is so rewarding when you complete these different milestones like making it into space or putting something into a stable orbit. You might look into the Anno series. Or Tropico (2, 4 and 6 are the only worthwhile ones imo); you play the role of a Caribbean island "president" and try to build an economy while juggling the needs of various political factions; or you just have a military and you throw everyone in jail or assassinate them.
