38. Sleeping Dogs

Basically none of the 'GTA clone' style games have resonated with me, including GTA itself. Sleeping Dogs is the exception. The core concept is very interesting - playing an undercover cop caught between twos world is something I don't think a game has ever done before, and it takes the setup and runs with it. The shooting and driving mechanics feel smooth and responsive, the storyline is really well-done, and the game is just long enough to be satisfying while not overstaying its welcome. I 100%d this game and never felt like I was forcing myself to. The biggest black mark against Sleeping Dogs is that the ending is a stupid cop-out, and considering that the story was one of the highlights of the game up until that point, that...hurt. Not enough retroactively ruin all the fun I had or anything, but enough for me to have no desire to replay it.

Black Turtle did a pretty good job.
