Here we go:

  • Far Cry 4 was superior to Far Cry 3 in pretty much every way. Story was better, Pagan Min was way more entertaining and more interesting than Vaas, taking outposts and fortresses was a lot more fun. Overall just more enjoyable
  • Army of Two: Devil's Cartel was an extremely badass game that was unfairly maligned as a whole for narrative decisions. The combat was brutal and the campaign was intense and looked pretty great. The first game in the series was by far the worst one but laid a solid enough foundation for the two sequels to be great I hope the series is resurrected on next gen.
  • This one is probably gonna be the least popular opinion, but I dig the Sniper: Ghost Warrior series more than Sniper Elite. I've played 2, 3, and Contracts for GW and 2 and 3 for SE and other than GW 2, I enjoyed my experience way more with GW. The X-Ray gimmick in SE is cool, but feels a little toothless when there is absolutely no outward damage on enemies. GW 3 and Contracts show you the full force of what a rifle can do to someone's head and it's beautiful. Additionally, the levels give you a million ways to achieve your goal and the stealth/melee takedowns are satisfying
  • Inversion is just as enjoyable as Gears of War 1 (2 and 3 elevate the series though) and has the cool gravity gimmick to really boost it
  • Puzzles in action games act more as pace killers than enjoyable mechanics. I enjoyed some of them in Tomb Raider and Uncharted, but for the most part they are just annoying. While I understand their purpose in the kinds of stories those series are telling, I had way more fun doing challenge tomb puzzles in TR because they were optional and didn't hinder the pace.
  • Speaking of Tomb Raider and Uncharted, while I am having a blast playing through the Uncharted trilogy for the first time (got to chapter 16 on Uncharted 3 just last night) I prefer the TR reboot trilogy. The traversal is a lot more fun, the set pieces are amazing. Nothing so far has matched the tsunami or earthquake sequences from Shadow, although to be fair I'm comparing current ben to last gen games and haven't played Uncharted 4 or Lost Legacy yet. Also, the combat is way better in TR. As much as TR reboot clearly borrows from Uncharted, and while Uncharted has better characters, I think TR does more things better.
  • Outlast 2 is better than Outlast 1. I enjoyed Outlast 1 a lot, but Outlast 2 got into my bones. The religious angle, the school flashback, the better graphics, the notes, the insane imagery, everything just resonated with me way more than in the first game.
  • Battlefield 1 and V were more enjoyable than BF 3 and 4 and the series should include varied mini-campaigns from here on out.
  • Wolfenstein Youngblood is perfectly fine as a side story because the gameplay and combat is so fun. The open world nature of it kills the narrative and makes the experience too grindy, but it isn't an abomination or as black a mark on the series as it's made out to be.
  • Silent Hill Downpour was a pretty solid horror game. To be fair here, it's the only SH game I've played as I only picked up an Xbox/PS in the last couple years. So I didn't compare it to the rest of the series and just enjoyed it for what it was. It had some extremely effective sequences like the apartment building in which you have to return items to the rooms of victims, the stage play with the cabin in the storm, the rewinding of the axe murder, all very cool parts I loved playing
  • Rage 2 is a much more enjoyable game that Doom 2016. I feel comfortable comparing them because the combat and pace is so similar. Rage 2 never got boring for me and the experience was varied and interesting enough to keep me engaged the whole campaign. Doom on the other hand was too long for the kind of game it was and I found myself wanting it over a little over halfway through. Game crashed on the second to last mission and I lost my save and have absolutely no desire to start it back up.
  • Arkham Origins is a great entry into the series. The combat isn't quite as fluid but still great, the setting beautiful, the boss fights are amazing. It is more fun than Asylum.
  • COD Infinite Warfare had a great campaign and was unfairly shit on. The introduction of the side missions was great as well
  • Bioshock 2 is a more enjoyable experience than 1. While the story isn't as good, the combat is better and the introduction of the Big Sisters and preparing to fight them added a ton of value to the game. And protecting the Little Sisters was also a blast. Additionally it gave us the Minerva's Den DLC.
  • Both Medal of Honor 2010 and Warfighter were enjoyable FPS campaigns that make for a perfectly enjoyable bite size experience.
  • FEAR 1 is the worst in the series. Wasn't really scary, the environments were boring as shit and redundant, and it was a slog to get through. 2 was much better and I even liked 3 more.
  • Dead Rising 1 is a miserable experience
  • Crysis 3 was a great entry into the series and had satisfying stealth and combat and visually looked amazing
  • Dead Island was a boring slog of a game
  • Kane and Lynch 2 wasn't THAT bad. It had a cool aesthetic and the gameplay, while clunky, was pretty fun.

Alrighty... I think that's it for now
