It sells a decent number of copies every month into eternity. Yeah, Mario Kart is essentially the default game for Nintendo consoles. It's suitable for all ages, but not too kiddy and a multiplayer game everyone plays thanks to its low entry skill level requirement. It also has a low bar in terms of expectations, since no one think it will be a AAA title, but it delivers a good enough experience to make it worthwhile.
