Kentucky: The cost of living is great, but hoo boy, you get what you pay for. The people here tend to forego southern hospitality in favor of southern belligerence, and if you live in one of the major cities, you get good ol' boy arrogance and hipster arrogance for the price of one. Bad schools, buildings and neighborhoods tend to be run-down (people litter like it's their full-time job), the job market is hit-or-miss... it's not the kind of place where you should lay your roots.

But man, the cost of living is nice. And the booze. It's useful as a stepping stone toward greener pastures. I'm excited to move after I finish grad school, but in the meantime, it could be worse.
