Freiza just developed enough as a character to set aside his pride to work together with others when needed and generally put his power and intelligence to better(not talking morally) usage. Freiza is basically the only being aside from Cell, Zamasu and Babidi Immune to Goku's ability to make friends of enemies( Buu was a special case and technically Goku does make friends with him twice anyways. With his "innocent" self and his reincarnation. Though his original pre supreme Kai absorbtion self(Kid Buu essentially) is impossible to befriend.) He straight up enjoys being evil and after the tournament of power tried to kill Goku using Broly.
