Boris Johnson announced closure of pubs, restaurants, cinemas, gyms, leisure centres etc. across the UK today. In two weeks we've gone from official policy being fairly relaxed (nudging social distancing, staying indoors if we have a dry cough/fever, and encouraging us to wash our hands more) to passing emergency laws and closing down most establishment that aren't selling food/medicine for off-site consumption (public transport is also being reduced to serve key workers, although with usage down so much this was inevitable anyway). I think it's just Sweden and the Netherlands among the major European countries that are more lax than us now.
