This was my MO from like 8th grade to like halfway through college. Then I realized it was generally rooted in ignorance. It's annoying af when people won't shut up about stuff you don't care about but really it's a lot more fun to resolve to check it out than to just dig your heels in and insist that everyone shut up.

I actually have found that quite often, the hype is justified, and I just couldn't see why from 30k ft. I've really only been burned a couple of times this way.
