I was already having a hard time accepting the reveal of Amon's father was a bloodbender thing who somehow escaped prison (under the watchful eye of both Aang AND Toph?) and changed his face and met a woman and was normal up until discovering his kids could waterbend.

They never give any explanation to how Amon uses bloodbending to take someone's power away. I guess maybe something to do with chi blocking? And since Korra didn't have airbending chi yet, there was nothing to take away?

Bigger copout I felt was how Aang just comes back and restores her power and now she can go into avatar state. Felt like they wanted to quickly wrap up this story.

Kind of a sad story really. Tarrlock in particular surprised me. He was an ass and then outright psychotic, but he did something surprising. After Amon/Noatak failed at his anti-bending revolution (I mean, isn't it hereditary so what, he was gonna keep taking people's powers away until he dies?) Amon/Noatak escapes on a boat and gets Tarrlock to come with him. Tarlock... actually explodes the boat to put an end to that madness. That was... wow. And Noatak knew what he was doing too, and he just let him. That just struck me as really sad. All of this could have been avoided.

I still liked most of it. The animation is beautiful of course and I do like a lot of the characters. Although them being teens adds a Bit too much teen romance shenanigans.

I felt it was kind of a downer and the happy ending of Korra wasn't earned. I thought that they were going to do a lesson about how she needs to get in touch with the spiritual side of the Avatar and that's how she restores her powers. Like she learns to be patient and more in tune with harmony or whatever (since her biggest flaw has been her impetuous personality and rashness) and then she finally awakens the Avatar state and gets in touch with Aang/the rest and gets her powers back. Instead she sulks after Mako says he loves her, cries, and only after getting her powers back she says she loves him too? I felt it sent a mixed message. Aren't you more than your powers? I dunno.

We'll see what next season brings.
