If you want to torture yourself you could go for clarinet.
The pawn shop doesn't have a clarinet. I checked the reviews and the instruments they have there have some pretty good reviews and are pretty cheap. They have a $1000 violin they are selling for $300 and a $700 flute for $200. They guarantee they work properly or your money back. Plus I'm trading in something anyway so might get it free or very cheap depending on what kind of deal I can get.

Have you ever played an instrument or have any musical experience at all? Are you actually planning on learning songs on an instrument or just fuck around and make fun sounds? Just wondering because if you are serious about it you should think about taking lessons either online or in person (much better working with someone who can teach you personally) when the quarantine lifts.
Some but close to none. I would be interested in lessons, but I don't need to be concert level or anything. Just good enough to play a few songs for myself and learn a new skill.

I tried to learn the piano and the guitar as a kid and didn't stick with either because they didn't interest me. They still don't, but they are probably the easiest to learn. Right now I am leaning towards flute or violin because even though they are harder I am actually interested in them.
