I don't trust post-GSC Pokemon. Yes HGSS is technically GSC, but it's still post-GSC Pokemon. I don't buy the hardcore fanbase liking it giving it strength because how many people voting here are part of the hardcore Pokemon fanbase? Not many I'd guess.

The strength HG/SS has lies on a few key factors:

1._The field it's up against is inherently weaker than the previous GotD's field. I mean, I wouldn't take HG/SS too far into the previous GotD, but people need to dissociate Gens 1 & 2 from the later games in the series. Gens 1 & 2 completely overshadow the rest of the series' strength, both in terms of making the rest of the games seem like jokes in comparison, and making people completely underestimate them because of it.

2._It's the holy grail of Pokmon. There hasn't been a game in the series as universally acclaimed by both casuals and hardcore fans alike as HG/SS.

3._It's the only Pokmon game in the bracket, which means everyone's going to make sure the game gets the respect many people claim it deserves.
