Hypoxia like that can lead to cardiac arrest and if I was able to achieve ROSC on the patient, his life will never be the same. Ventilators and intubation is our only option at that point to give the patient a fighting chance for extubation once the lungs recover. We also follow a protocol (called ARDSnet, look it up) to prevent barotrauma for intubated patients. I am so fucking sick of these stupid ass conspiracy theories on how we are hiding shit. We have no evidence on how to manage COVID19 patients and all of our guidelines are based on shitty studies and our past knowledge about ARDS.
