to be honest, the supernatural elements of Persona 4 aren't all that relevant to enjoinment of the story. the main plot hook is a murder mystery, and on that sense it is very easy to follow.

Persona 5 similarly is a fairly straightforward story about rebelling against society.

i think thats why they manage to resonate with many people that dont often care much about Jrpgs (5 especially).
