I decided to rank the groups twice, once based on my personal opinions about the games within them, and again based on my opinions about their strength:

Personal Preferences: 9 > 1 > 3 > 8 > 10 > 20 > 19 > 11 > 12 > 16 > 13 > 14 > 7 > 2 > 18 > 4 > 15 > 5 > 17 > 6

Group 9 has both my second and third favorite games of the decade, plus a game I've had my eye on for quite a while. Group 1 has my favorite game ever, but its depth is weak with only one other game I care about; 3 is close behind with its strong depth. I've played too few games to consider it worthwhile to vote in any group below 11, and in fact, I haven't played any of the games in Group 6 or 17 at all.

The juxtaposition of Groups 15 and 16 is pretty funny. There's seriously nothing in 15 other than The Last of Us, which even then might very well be the weakest of the group toppers. On the other hand, 16 looks like the division of death, with a whole handful of legitimate B8 favorites, and I'd probably favor even its weakest games over anything in 15 below the top. Group 9's not much better than 15 - somehow we have a group where two of F/GO, Fortnite, Heavy Rain, MK11, and Thumper will advance a round - but at least there's two third-round shoo-ins in Celeste and Dragon Quest XI. Likewise for Group 17, only its top two aren't as impressive as Group 9's frontrunners, in turn for its fodder being a bit better. Group 5 depends heavily on a middling selection of indies.

Groups 6, 12, and 20 comprise the next tier below 16 for me; all of them look strong, though 12 is a bit worse due to all that JRPG LFF. Then comes Group 2, which is deceptively weak for being the only group with exclusively GotD games; ME2 is the only actual B8 favorite in it, though the rest of these games all at least seem to have decent fanbases here. Group 19 has a little bit of everything, with lots of feasible-looking result permutations besides a pretty set bottom two. Group 18 has quite the gulf between the haves and the have-nots; on balance, I think it's a bit above midpack. It's admittedly late and I don't feel like sorting through the rest now, but I will say that Group 4 is very even-looking because it might as well not have a group topper.

I'm hoping to see some discussion of the above ITT, and I'm certainly looking forward to GotDotY as a whole, even though I won't be voting that often myself.
