Rey/Finn/Poe were just so flat and emotionless, whereas I think we can all relate to Kylo on some level. It helps that Adam Driver is by far the best actor of the bunch. Anyone who liked TFA should really watch the RedLetterMedia teardown Kylo is by FAR the best character in the sequel trilogy.
