Overall, my impressions?

POSITIVES

Excellent representations of a number of mental health issues that our society faces today. Everyone from the villains to the heroes all face issues that are allegories (or straight up representations) of mental health issues and social issues.

The animation and ESPECIALLY the music were excellent.

The narrative was very well done. I felt like I could kinda guess at things in a vague way but couldn't ever piece it ALL together, but it makes sense.

Beyond a couple of moments here and there, the characterizations were amazing, and you could see the reasoning as to why they do what they did. Even Pearl at one point not saving Steven... she at that point was not wanting anything to do with Steven and actively was kinda wanting him to go away.

NEGATIVES

The 5th season felt a little padded and aimless at times to me.

A lot of the fight scenes felt a little... saturday morning cartoon-ish? In comparison to something like Avatar the Last Airbender which had amazing fight choreography and stunning combat. I realize that combat was not the main focus, since Steven is all about talking through things and being defensive, but the series showed with Connie and Pearl that it could focus on some really impressive choreography and chose not to fairly often.

The final conflict felt a little lackluster. I know it wasn't supposed to be a big fight sequence or anything, but still felt lackluster. Again, compared to something like Avatar TLA which had amazing final conflicts but ultimately had a pacifist character fight and win within that scope.
