The point is that most people will tend toward minor selfishness or self-preservation. Most people aren't thinking "Hey, maybe this money belongs to a senior and it's the last of their monthly pension and they'll be hooped without it." They just see money on the ground and their eyes light up and they quickly pocket it and make sure no one is looking when they do. Of course, the average person isn't going around maiming others or whatever lol.
