If anything deserves to be called an all-time great female video game villain quote, its Machine. Its threatening, haunting, awe-inspiring, and downright famous. I still picked against it in semis because I needed a late upset to set myself apart from the cookie, but that hardly matters at this point. Theres nothing in this division that should give Machine a fight, least of all Over 40. Over 40 isnt my most hated quote in this contest, but it is the one that Im most baffled as to how it got in. Its the punchline to a joke that we dont have the setup for, from a character no one cares about, from a series that is known for its writing about as much as its known for its level design or its use of survival horror elements.

This match continues the streak of crazy 8/9s, though in this case its crazy because I have no idea which will be stronger or why. Obey is a simple yet effective joke (as in comedic, not joke entrant,) using a single unexpected word to parody a recent cultural development. Failed is part of the villain quote subgenre known as gloating over the heroes failure, a favorite of mine. However this particular example lacks punch due to its overwrought phrasing. The Obey VA plays the line far too straight considering its parodic nature, while the Failed VA is competent but stiff. This is without considering that "Obey" comes from a hated series and "Failed" from a beloved one. Im willing to vote against my bracket here and hope Obey can clutch it out.

Theres one The Boss quote in each division, and the two I like both ended up in the bottom half. Ten minutes may not be villainous, but theres no quote that better fits The Bosss role as an antagonist. Its an invitation to the greatest challenge Naked Snake will ever face, where failure means instant death and success means a slow descent into living hell. For her, though, it means that shes finally free of her obligations and can put everything she has into one last battle with the one she loves. Power is fine (I like its sentiment,) but it cant compete.

Ha Ha Dragon is only here because of the VA. Just listen to it, its great. Beyond death is another one of those simple-yet-effective quotes, though in my opinion its a little too simple and not quite so effective. It still wins here, but next round will be tough for it.
