I didn't see the original post but I think this actually is a good metaphor in terms of the mods getting punch-drunk on power and escalating things wildly. Like, every so often there's an incident where stuff gets modded, people get mad and keep posting about it, more stuff gets modded, and soon the mods are deleting everything in sight that's tangentially related/supportive even if it's not remotely actually moddable. The cops are acting with that level of maturity except they're doing it in real life with actual weapons and it's terrifying. --- another place and time, without a great divide, and we could be flying deadly high ...
