This is so conflicting to me. So many incredible authors have awful backgrounds. I remember reading La Symphonie Pastorale in French class and absolutely loving the book and learning later that Andre Gide loved to sleep with little boys in Morocco :/

I do think theres a difference here, though. Gide actually, physically did something horrible, but JK Rowling only holds those views, in her mind and, of course, publicly. But I do acknowledge that her words can instigate physical change upon our world. I just want to think deeper about those differences, and whether either are excusable for the sake of their artistic work.
