Love, ActuallyRating: 93/100 A collage of tiny, less remarkable tropes in romantic comedies that, when combined, weave into a web of normal lives like a tapestry of human life. Precious for their combined complexity, each strand of Love, Actually contributes to a greater whole. With one of the best casts you've ever seen, there is so much charm to Love, Actually, and it doesn't shy away from provide a mix of happy and unhappy endings to its various tinier narratives. Naturally, no one exhibits more awkward British charm than Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, but there's something to like in every aspect of the film, as it embraces the sappy, heart-on-its-sleeve attitude of the genre it both lampoons and lifts up. --- "It is too easy being monsters. Let us try to be human." ~Victor Frankenstein, Penny Dreadful ... Copied to Clipboard! |
