you rather we play this again?

Andromeda's not actually that bad. A lot of its bad rep comes from when it was rushed out by an inexperienced development team because EA were being assholes (as always), but a lot of the damage was patched after the fact.

Sure, there's still some plot elements that could have used some tweaking, and some voices that definitely should have been cast better (Morda in your vid being one of them), and character creation still has too much derpface in it (though you CAN make attractive characters if you try), and the more you keep looking for things to pick apart the more you'll find, but if you just sort of sit back and try to enjoy the ride it's not half bad.

Like I've mentioned in the past, in the state it's in NOW, most people would probably praise it as a good sci-fi game... if it didn't have the Mass Effect brand name (and all of the expectations that go with it) attached. It looks weaker than it really is compared to how good Mass Effect used to be, but most games would look weak compared to how Mass Effect used to be. And there was always going to be a bit of weakness no matter what by shifting away from Shepard.

The real problem now is that they've kind of screwed themselves. They're not going to want to do "Andromeda 2" because of how poorly it was received (which was their own fault), in spite of the fact that Andromeda was clearly designed to be the launching point for a new series. But they also can't really continue the original storyline (and do a traditional Mass Effect 4), because if they do they'll piss off at least 66% of the fanbase because they'll almost certainly have to pick a "canon" ending to work from (and if they pull a Deus Ex and go "No no, all the endings were canon simultaneously", they'll probably piss off 100% of the fanbase.

And they can't really pull another Andromeda and go "Oh, yet another secret ark program sent out a few hundred thousand settlers into another galaxy before the Reapers showed up, except they went the opposite way and wound up in Triangulum instead", because then you're kind of pushing suspension of disbelief beyond the breaking point, and conflicting with established canon.

The only real option they have would be to do games set in the past - but there really isn't a huge window of time between humans achieving FTL and the Shepard games (and nothing HUGELY major really happens in that time period other than the First Contact War, so it would feel kind of disappointing), and if they just went back before humans showed up (or even farther and did something in the Prothean Era, or even before them), a lot of people will be upset because they can't play as human (not to mention it being slightly harder to relate to a setting where there are no direct human analogues to identify with). As much as some players complain about not being able to play as a Turian/Quarian/Asari/Krogan/etc, and as much as people whined about being locked into human as Hawke in Dragon Age 2, the statistics absolutely show that whenever people are given a choice they almost always just pick human anyway.

So they basically can't go forward, they can't go back, and they can't go sideways. And if they pull an Elder Scrolls and go "It's 200+ years later, everything is different, no we're not explaining how or why", that'd really piss off most of the fanbase.

About the only thing that feels like it would work is if they acknowledge that the high EMS Destroy ending is canon and Shepard survived the end of ME3, because then the people sad that "their" version of the story was ruined might still be won over by the nostalgia happiness of getting Shepard back (especially if they go full-nostalgia a la the Citadel DLC and just have every past crewmember show up, hang out, and have fun cutscenes and interactions). But even that would annoy a lot of people.
