Biden is already in a safe position to win provided he doesn't screw up between now and November. The VP pick only holds lot of potential pitfalls and not that many benefits. Biden will be criticized if he doesn't pick a minority woman. Yet all the minority women have limited experience and would be open to attacks that they aren't experienced enough to become president.

Harris is probably the safest choice, yet she might alienate those midwestern voters that Biden needs to win back from Trump. A purple state governor like Grisham and Whitmer are also safe choices. I'd be very surprised if he picked Warren or Abrams.
