If we have conflicting views about how to improve the world, it would be foolish of me to support them in their efforts to take an approach I disagree with. That doesn't mean I can't enjoy a family dinner with them, but I'm certainly not going to change which political views I express publicly in order to avoid stepping on their toes, and I would expect the same from them.
