I remember when the first thing you did when you went to a potential friend's home or apartment was check out their collection of books, music, and movies. I have literally never done this, over the span of 40+ years. Philoktetes posted... If they just had basic mainstream stuff, that was a potential dealbreaker. I don't even have just mainstream stuff, but if I knew someone who ever did that, I'd pretty much immediately call them hipster trash and accuse them of being a douche. That would be more of a dealbreaker for me than anything any given person would actually have. Which I wouldn't know anyway, since I never really looked at what people had. I can actually think of more friends who are fans of things that are hot garbage than I can think of friends that have hipster tendencies.
