Funnily enough they DO progress on that part and all but stop the private investigator stuff come Season 6-7 Ironically those were my favorite parts of the show so naturally I dropped the show for a while before coming back to the somewhat rushed but fairly satisfying ending I get so tired of them because the formula is so transparent.
