500k in a population of over 300 million?
0.166% of the population, that's nothing to people with death cult mentalities. I've seen more than a few posts by people saying they were glad they went out and enjoyed life before losing a family member to it because God called them home. So even losing family members isn't enough for them.

It's not even going to matter that we're basically getting a 9/11 every day or two, with people dying unceremoniously and unable to say goodbye to their families or see them again, or even getting a proper funeral.

It's all just... Not enough to convince them that they're wrong.

Its because its 9/11 but happening scattered. A 1/1000 chance of dying isnt severely high, and even lower when you account for the fact that most of those deaths are people above the age of 60.
