If you're talking global then you might be right, for sure we'll hit 500k more deaths by Christmas at the rate things are going at. So we're looking at about 1 million worldwide reported deaths from covid.
Deaths would accelerate precipitously if the health care system collapses in one of the hardest-hit cities/states. New York City only narrowly avoided that.
It's hard to tell if or how close we are to that point, but with cases growing at this rate, it's unfortunately back on the table.
