My perception on the poll choices (might be right, might not be right):
Dealership will fix the issue right. But it'll cost you an arm and a leg. If dealership fucks up, they'll fix it and make you whole with no fight. They have to maintain their reputation (every time you bring your car to the dealership, the manufacturer sends you a rating request, and if you rate them less than a 9/10, they're screwed).
The major chain mechanics will hire anyone off the streets and not have good mechanics. However, because they are a major chain, if something does go wrong, they might try to make it right; but some chains really don't care, and you have to fight to get it done.
The small-time mechanics are hit or a miss; you'll have fantastic mechanics that have their own shops, or even shadier ones that will claim they did the work, but they didn't.
