Unless there was a mob or guys with signs, by asking who's there. More generally, though, protestors typically don't just knock on doors while traveling alone anyway. There's very little chance he could believe it to be a protestor. Thats the whole point. Did you read the article? Heres what they said in response to him saying what he said: Full Throttle posted... When he told him he can't do that because it be reckless and negligent and said you can't shoot anybody first without identifying them and confirming a threat, The whole point was that he couldnt know. And it seems likely that he just assumed... So, it seems more likely that it wasnt an accident... Zeus posted... And if he doesn't believe it's a protestor, that previous statement (which just sounds like tough talk anyway) goes out the window. It doesnt though. He already said he would shoot through the door. That mostly likely means he would shoot without identifying them first.
