Well part of the reason FF and DQ exist is because those RPGS (mostly Ultima and Wizardry) were so stupidly popular in Japan but weren't a good fit for consoles so FF and DQ are themselves just taking the PC RPGs that were already there and dumbing them down to a controller with 2 buttons. DQ took mostly from Ultima while FF took from Wizardry. Questionmarktarius posted... Final Fantasy was such a blatant lift of D&D, that lawyers had at least one of the monsters redone. And speak of the devil, you know what the original name of Wizardry was? Dungeons & Dragons They ran into... uhh...
