In my mind, it would be considered violence because there's an implicit threat of harm that will be worse the less they comply with my orders. I do not think all violence is bad or all involuntary detainment is bad, just that involuntary detainment obtained by the threat of even greater bodily harm if they resist is a form of violence. What I'm curious about here is your definition of violence.
